Situated on the iconic Historic Route 66, this modest motel offers a nostalgic stay with uniquely decorated rooms reflecting a retro charm. Each room holds character distinctly different from standard modern motels, inviting guests to unwind in a quiet, peaceful environment. Guests will find spacious accommodations furnished with cozy beds, ceiling fans, and some with dedicated art-themed decor. The absence of on-site dining or fitness options simplifies the focus on rest and comfort, while the free Wi-Fi and parking provide essential conveniences for road travelers.

The motel appeals particularly to those exploring McLean's local culture and history. Just a short walk away is the Devil's Rope Museum, a well-reviewed attraction showcasing regional heritage. The motel's friendly and accommodating hosts add warmth to the visitor experience, often helping guests with room preferences and local tips. Nearby options include another motel with RV parking, making this area suitable for travelers on extended journeys or those with unique vehicle needs.

“Such a cute older hotel. Always super clean and hosts are so friendly. Worked a way to get me the rooms I needed for my whole family. Plus, just walk around the corner to an amazing Steakhouse (Red River Steakhouse)”

“Clean, retro, comfortable, quiet stay in the California room in April 2026. Great sign with a very large live prickly pear at the base. Manager was very friendly and helpful on the phone. Only 4 stars because the shower handle was partly broken and nearly unusable, shower drain was clogged, toilet seat was broken, and toilet tank had a slow leak (filled up about every 30 minutes).”

“Yearning for a rustic slice of Americana? Look no further! The Cactus Inn in McLean, Tx will take you back to the golden age of road travel. Located on Historic Route 66, just an hour east of Amarillo, the Cactus offers up spacious rooms, each with its own personality, unlike the sterile, cookie-cutter rooms of modern motels. My wife and I stayed in the Gallery room, which is adorned with various works of art from rennaisance to abstract. It includes a full size refrigerator/freezer combo. The freezer is its own compartment, not just a shelf at the top of the fridge. The bed is large and comfortable. The room includes an eating nook with dining table. This is a room you'll actually want to spend some time in. And the people of McLean are some of the nicest folks you'll ever meet. So, while you're getting your kicks on 66, ensure you make McLean, Tx and the Cactus Inn a must stop. Bring friends and compare rooms!”

“Cannot say enough positive things about this place. The room was super cheap and in the middle of nowhere so I honestly wasn’t expecting much, but we came in late and just needed a place to sleep. However, I was very surprised in what we were met with. The room was so cute and cozy. It was immaculately clean. Beds were extremely comfortable with some of the softest sheets I have ever slept on. The room was so quiet and peaceful and I loved the ceiling fan. I was literally giggly over the fact that we were in an old Route 66 motor lodge.”
